This was quite a pivotal moment in the band's career. Following the departure of Bill ( for a solo career) they were
down to a 4 piece and began to produce their own records.Alan & John released some records as Richards 'n' Williams (John
& Alan in Europe) which charted in France.
There has been some debate over the years as to whether the band made the right decision in leaving their producers Bickerton
& Waddington. 'Foe Dee O Dee' & 'Little Darling had not done anywhere near as well as the first 4 hit singles and
the album those songs were from failed to chart.
All the records they released from the publication of this
issue were written by themselves.'You're The Reason Why' was coupled with 'Julia' (an A-side in France) It's worth noting
that most of the band's contemporaries were swept away by the arrival of 'punk rock' (New Wave). However the 'bettes were beginning
a run of 5 self penned hits across the UK & Europe while Bill's solo single (written by Bickerton & Waddington) failed
to chart.
Having recently received a better copy of this newsletter it was nice to see Chrissie had
stamped a 'newsflash' at the end of the last page.
